My work has a main protagonist, Nemonte Nenquimo. She’s the central figure of the Waorani tribe. Perhaps she is one of the most prominent personalities within the Indian population, but we can go even further.
She is one of the most symbolic influencers today, in particular within the population interested in the future of the planet’s climate.
Let me clarify that for me she is one of the bravest heroes of today’s scene with incredible energy and courage.

She couldn’t be more relevant, perhaps right now she is striving to make the population aware about the damage caused by aggressive capitalism and corrupt actors.
No wonder she is in the focus of my work, both thematically and regarding the composition.
As she tells us countless times, she would love to see that her tribe is not the only one that forms the opposition against not quite sustainable human development and she would welcome a trend that leads toward a symbiosis between humans and nature.

Nemonte Nenquimo guides her people, which I tried to represent in the form of two people, with generations very
two people of very different generations but with equal spirit, energy and courage in their struggle for more freedom.
The background, i.e., the space behind the three main figures, are reinterpretations and studies on creations of different pre-Columbian cultures. They create a between our present-day activists and a long gone culture that could still live in harmony with nature.
